our bookworm

For the last 2 weeks or so Sarah has really been into books. She's always signing 'book' -- first thing in the morning (used to sign milk, but now it's book). One particular funny time was one night when she was having trouble falling asleep and we were letting her cry a little. I went back to her room and first thing she looks at me, sticks out her hands and signs 'book' with purpose, accompanied by the 'g' or 'k' sound that she makes when signing 'book'. It's often a tug-of-war between milk and books at bedtime too, so I'll read some and then we put the books to bed and say goodbye to them and then have milk. It helps if I sing our nightime song (Jesus, name above all names) to get her 'in the mood' for milk too. So, needless to say, we've been to the library to get more books. She's really into lions too, lately and roars really well.

Fall photo shoot

A land of leaves. Sarah enjoyed watching a dump truck and bobcat work on the park from this spot.

Lately

Sarah has been enjoying climbing into things and on top of things. I really want to share more pics but my arms are peetering out, so we'll have to try tomorrow.

checking in

hey...been blog-less for a while because of my here bad shoulders/arm - tendonitus. Just coming out of an experiment week where Andy has done all the dishes/cooking and other things that aggrevate my shoulders. I think I'm feeling better, a little. I've started up some excercies to help too. And we may be getting a few appliances to help my kitchen work not be so physical...even talked about a portable dishwasher, but I don't think that's going to happen.
Sarah is cutting more teeth again. A molar poked through and I see more wanting to.
I am really enjoying my design team meetings at church. I'm trying to follow through on what I feel God wants me to say, so that always feels good.
It's a beautiful fall day today. We are going to see Josh and Heidi on Nov.4 for a few days. That will be great...it's not quite sunk in yet, but that's in a couple of weeks.
I've been sleeping better (except last night...Sarah up and then I couldn't fall back asleep :) which I'm thankful for and feel people must be praying for me.
There are a bunch of pics on our camera we need to get around to putting on the computer and I can share some.
Tonight is a date...probably Booster juice and look at some stuff we need - a pot, fry pan, mop etc. :)

Mashed potatoes on the way. Mom cut her thumb real bad carving a pumpkin and needed to go to the hospital (see Kathy or Aimee's blog in links). It was cool to see how the Thanksgiving dinner came together with everyone pitching in really well. Steven cuts potatoes super small so they'll cook faster :)

The gang. We're all looking at Steven's camera...except for Sarah:)

Brought my clarinet...hadn't played since Heidi's wedding. Fun.

Sarah got a shirt too.

Early morning reading time.

Aimee working on her design for her shirt. We made family shirts with the letters of our last name on them.

Sarah's makeshift highchair and a cute pose.

After the hike. Stretching, eating jerky and rice crackers.

Our family by an ancient cedar.

Thanksgiving Vacation

Had a good vacation with my family (Klassens) in Whistler. We stayed at a big house and did a lot of cool things. My arm and right side took a break from hurting which was nice. Now back at home with all my regular duties I'm hurting again...so I'll be brief here.
Did some skipping at a local gym, led by Carolyn. This is my dad. Posted by Picasa

hi

Big weekend it seems. Here's a bit of what happened.
Fishing and dinner out at the river. Brought the campstove and cooked up. Nice.
Sat. morning attended Abbotsford's Breastfeeding Challenge. Met the author of "Simply in Season" at the HOJ. Check out this cookbook. It's a gooder.
Sun. participated in the CIBC Run for the Cure.
We've been organizing Sarah's room so it's safer for her. Big job.
Abby people, check out this great 'contest.' Log your physical activity for the month (min. 1/2 hr. per day - doesn't have to be all at once) and be entered to win really great prizes - stays at hotels, kayak rentals, chariot stroller. Here's the link to the form. Or check out Abby in Motion.
See a pic of me and Sarah at the in motion walk (I'm in green on right, Sarah's in the chariot).
The lady in orange, leading the warm-up is the teacher for the drop-in Dance class I go to.

Hug at the river.

Another inquisitive look at the fish...tired too.

More looking at the fish. The splashes on Sarah's hoodie are from the fish.

Sarah meets the fish.

Fishing at the Chilliwack river Friday night. This is a pink Andy caught...not allowed to keep.
